To continue in the vein of some quick tips for great website design, here some of the things you can do to make your customers happy.
Interesting Content
Believe it or not, a lot of companies forget that their content is king. If you don’t keep your website fresh with new interesting content then your customers will drift off elsewhere. Imagine if you bought yourself a new shop on the high street, redesigned the interior and kitted it out with beautiful things to attract a passing shopper. Would you then leave it like that for a year or two? Would people continue to visit your shop if nothing ever changed in it? If you have something interesting to read or look at on your website and you keep updating it then your customers will return many times and your search ranking will also benefit.
Helpful navigation
Web design needs to be more than just pretty pictures, content that is well categorised with thoughtful taxonomy is easier to navigate especially when the website is sensitive to this. The easier it is to find your way around the more likely you are to feel comfortable and follow through to do business with that company.
When a product is technical, some navigation to help the customer understand how to choose a suitable product is very important. For example, you could create a step by step customer journey that would lead them to the products best suited to their needs.
Customer Service
Customers like to get emails or text messages to reassure them that their order has been placed or or enquiry has been received. Make sure that sufficient information is included in your communications and make sure you continue to talk to your customers. For example, do you tell them when to expect an item to be shipped or a service to be ready? If someone contacts you via your website, how quickly can you respond? If you have a social media presence then don't forget to monitor this aswell.
Loyalty rewards
Everyone likes to feel special and to get a better deal so why not offer your customers membership where they can get preferred rates or service? Or maybe a free gift.
