Global Security Programme

A website for the Global Security Programme at Pembroke College, Oxford University

Project Summary

The Global Security Programme (GSP) conducts cutting-edge research on global security in the contemporary world. It is a cluster of research projects located at Pembroke College and the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.

To support their work we created a new website which acts as a central point of information for the programme. The website brings together all their research and publications, information about coming events, news, their projects and the people working on them.

We designed the website in close collaboration with the team at Pembroke College and implemented it using the ExpressionEngine CMS which gave us the flexibility to create the unique features they required.

Research and Publications Database

A key feature of the website is the ability the search and filter their extensive database of research and publications. This is a great resource for students, researchers and authors looking to find published research and other resources.

We built the system entirely in ExpressionEngine which enables the website team to easily upload and categorise their research and publication library.

To compliment the search and filter feature we also implemented an animated (spinning) globe component where visitors can click on a pin to filter the Research and Publications list by location.

Mixed Media

The Research and Publications database enables the team at Pembroke to make available a range of publication and media types. This includes media from simple PDF downloads and text to photo essays and intercative visualisations.

The database is an invalulable resource for access to information about their wide range of projects.

Filtering and Searching

Throughout the site we made it as easy as possible for visitors to locate the information they wanted by implementing search and filtering.

This gives the Pembroke team the ability to tag content and ensure the accuracy of filter and search results.
